My Natural Sistas was created over four years ago, and what started as sisters simply sharing our natural hair journey has evolved into a beautiful community of women who enjoy learning about how to style and care for their natural hair, fitness, living a healthy lifestyle, and overall heath and wellness. We are based in Houston, Texas and have a collective background in education, nutrition, and personal training, as well as a strong passion to empower and inspire women to embrace their natural beauty and love the skin their in.
India is the oldest sister in My Natural Sistas and was the first one in the trio to decide to “go natural.” After getting her last relaxer in August of 2008, she began the transition to natural a month later and got her “Big Chop” in February of 2009. She initially made the decision to “go natural” out of curiosity, but throughout her journey she started to really appreciate her versatile, kinky curly hair. In addition to educating people online on how to care for their natural hair, India is also an elementary school teacher. She loves inspiring girls, both young and old, to embrace their natural beauty.
India has a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Health Administration with a minor in Public Affairs from Texas State University.
Toni is the middle sister in My Natural Sistas and the last sister to decide to embrace her natural hair. Toni received her last perm in March of 2009 and did her first “Big Chop” the following July. Although her decision to “go natural” wasn’t planned, she’s extremely happy she did and hasn’t looked back. Toni is also a proud Vegan. After almost five years of living a Vegetarian lifestyle, she made the decision to transition to Vegan in June of 2014 and is extremely passionate about food, health, the rights of all living beings.
Toni has a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Dietetics from Texas State University.
Carmen is the youngest sister in My Natural Sistas and was inspired by her big sister, India, to “go natural.” Her last perm was in September of 2008 and after transitioning for three months, she got her first “Big Chop.” She loves her TWA and has cut her hair five times since she received her initial “Big Chop.” She loves her natural hair experimenting with different styles and colors. Carmen also competes in fitness bikini competitions, is a certified personal trainer and enjoys helping people achieve their fitness goals.
Carmen has a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting from Texas Southern University.
