How To: Lay Your Edges & Sideburns

Hey Sistas! Here’s a quick and easy tutorial on how I create the “swoops” in my edges and sideburns. This is my signature ending touch on most of my hairstyles. Watch the video if you want to see how I achieve my signature look!

Products Needed:

  • Toothbrush
  • Styling gel of your choice

The Process:

Step 1: Apply the gel to your edges
Step 2: Take the toothbrush and create a “S” swoop design
Step 3: Continue down, connecting the bottom of the “S” in each swoop – do as many as you need on each side of your head. I typically do around 3 or 4 on each side
Step 4: Use your finger to make sure the hair is laid down and going in the direction you prefer
Step 5: For my sideburns, I create a backwards “C”, then continue down slighly and create the bottom of an “S” and ultimately the result ends up looking like a swirly “J”

That’s it! Let me know if you end up trying this technique in the comments or in The Sistahood Forum! And subscribe to our YouTube channel to view more videos and stay updated on new uploads!
