How To: Quick & Easy Wash and Go on Kinky Curly Coily Natural Hair

Hey Sistas! Here’s a super quick and easy wash and go tutorial for kinky curly coily natural hair! This wash and go works when you don’t have time to do a defined twist out, flat iron, rod set, or any other really cute, but time consuming hairstyle. Keep in mind, you will not get defined curls with this style, but it’s still super cute. OK, lets get started!

Products Needed:

  • Shampoo
  • Condition
  • Styling cream of your choice
  • Bobby pins
  • Oil of your choice

The Process:

Step 1: Shampoo or co-wash your hair
Step 2: Add conditioner and make sure to finger detangle and pull in a downward motion to get rid of any shed hair
Step 3: Rinse your hair
Step 4: Take a large section of hair, add more conditioner and braid your hair
Step 5: Repeat step 4 about three times until you have around 4-5 large braids
Step 6: Rinse 80% of the conditioner from your hair
Step 7: Once you’re out of the shower, start with the first section and split it in half
Step 8: Add your styling cream and braid the section of hair. When you reach the bottom, coil the ends of your hair
Step 9: Take the other half of the section and repeat step 8
Step 10: Repeat steps 7-9 until you’ve braided your entire head
Step 11: Pull the braids towards the back of your head to stretch your hair and apply bobby pins to keep it the front braids in place
Step 12: Take the braids on the bottom and create one huge braid so that it lays down flat and coil the end of the large braid
Step 13: Let your hair sit fro at least 2 hours. You might want to use a hair dryer to speed up the process
Step 14: remove the braids, even though your hair may still be a little damp. It shouldn’t shrink up too much
Step 15: Optional: Shake your hair, fluff it, and pick the roots for a more voluminous look. You can also apply gel to your edges to lay them down
Step 16: Apply oil to your hair to seal in the moisture
