How To: Semi Mini Twists on Short Natural Hair

Hey Sistas! Semi Mini Twists is a great low maintenance protective hairstyle for short natural hair, especially for those who live in cold places and/or for people who have busy schedules like me. They do, however, take a while to do. The upside is that they last for long time time, so it’s worth the effort. This was my first time attempt at doing mini twists, and I will say I’m happy with the results. If you’re looking for a cute protective hairstyle and you have patience, then mini twists just might be for you. You can also achieve a cute mini twists twist out once you’re ready to take your twists down. Lets get started!

Products Needed:

  • Comb
  • Hair Clips
  • Spray bottle
  • Water
  • Twisting product of your choice
  • Gel
  • Satin Bonnet

The Process:

Step 1: Start with clean, detangled dry hair. Make sure you use a leave in conditioner to add more moisture to the hair since it will be twisted for a while
Step 2: Part your hair in large sections and use your hair clips to keep the hair in place
Step 3: Start parting your hair in smaller sections and spray a little water on the hair
Step 4: Add your twisting product, then twist the hair as tightly as possible. It’s important to make sure the hair you’re twisting is the same length to avoid tangles and knotting of the hair
Step 5: Twirl the ends of the twist for a more finished look
Step 6: Repeat this process around your entire head
Note: Make sure you sleep with a satin cap at night. When you wake up the next morning, all you have to do is slightly fluff your twists and that should be enough.

That’s it! Let me know if you end up trying these mini twists in the comments or in The Sistahood Forum! And subscribe to our YouTube channel to view more videos and stay updated on new uploads!
