How To: Classic Twist & Curl Natural Hairstyle (No Heat)

Hey Sistas! This is definitely my new favorite hairstyle, and it has been my go to style since I cut my natural hair. I achieved this hairstyle using the twist & curl method with mini flex rods. This is a heat free style and the size of the rods makes them pretty comfy to sleep on. I think this look is really timeless and I’m sure I’ll be sporting it for a long time! I hope you love it as much as I do! OK, lets get started!

Products Needed:

  • Mini Flexi Rods (around 50-60)
  • Satin Bonnet
  • Twisting product of your choice
  • Hair Pick
  • Pomade

The Process:

Step 1: Start by twisting your hair. Make sure your twist the top section of your hair towards your face. Watch my Top 14 Tips for a Defined Twist Out on Natural Hair video to see how I twist my hair for this style
Step 2: Take a mini flex-rods, place it at the end of your twist, and begin to roll under until you reach the roots
Step 3: Repeat steps 1 & 2 until you’ve attached a mini flexi rod to every twist
Step 4: Sleep with a satin bonnet and the next day carefully remove the flexi rods
Step 5: Carefully take each twist apart to avoid frizz
Step 6: Use your hair pick to get your preferred look. I like to barely pick out my hair in the back and focus on the top of my head to that top heavy look
Step 7: Apply the pomade to your edges to lay them down
Step 8: Optional: Continue to separate the twists and pick out your hair for a more voluminous and fluffy style

That’s it! Let me know if you end up trying this style in the comments or in The Sistahood Forum! And subscribe to our YouTube channel to view more videos and stay updated on new uploads!
